Meant for emergency use, this is the smallest and lightest rope clamp type ascender on the market. It will get you out of many difficult situations by helping you to set up a quick hauling system, or climbing a rope. Very useful for self rescue from crevasses etc. Every climber should have at least one Tibloc in their kit.
  • For use on ropes of 8 - 11mm diameter.

  '40G TO PACK AND FORGET...'
Strengths: weight, simplicity, and quite aggressive teeth (A Harry Enfield fat scouser will recognise the description...)
Weaknesses: Not so easy to use long term or in conjunction with big gloves etc. Can cause a fair amount of rope mashing.
Overall: For the weight and price this is a good deal and could get you out of a very tricky situation. Ideal for emergency back up, prevents those shoelace prussiks we all love to talk about in the pub so much. And it will even open bottles of beer!
