  'GREAT APPROACH SHOE WITH SUPERB SCRAMBLING POTENTIAL'
Strengths: Stiff fronted scrambling ability. Great Vibram tread with superb adhesion. Well cushioned heel. Great ability to edge (on inside).
Weaknesses: Ankle cut wont suite everyone.
Overall: The Zens ouze Scarpa's usual superb quality and innovative design. Although a reasonably comfortable approach shoe it is obvious that the designers had scrambling and easy rock in mind. Having walked in, you can tighten the laces and Grade 1s up to Diffs should be no problem. Took them for a test run up Kentmere and included some scrambling. I was impressed. They inside edge superbly and give a very positive feel with very good smearing. Outside edging not so good as the shoe tends to bend. The only problem I have experienced is that cut around the ankle bone is a bit high so any rolling pronation can lead to tenderness of the ankle bone, but this is largely personal, so recommend you try for yourself. One slight improvement for me would be to reduce the width of the heel tread in line with a fell running shoe. This would reduce lateral strain on the foot and knee. However this is a small point and largely personal. Their performance as a scrambling tool is superb! Please note Reliability score is based on a short trial.
