The Wye Valley Comprised the first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Forest of Dean, the first National Forest Park. In the final few miles of its journey, the river has carved its devious way through a huge mass of carboniferous limestone to create one of the most spectacular non-glaciated river gorges in the British Isles; and on the western face of this lofty eastern ridge, upon which King Offa built his defences all those centuries ago, man and nature between them have sculpted most of the cliffs described in this guide.
Excellent climbing at all grades in a spectacular setting.
Areas covered:--- Wyndcliffe, Wintour's Leap, Ban-y-gor, Tintern Quarry, Shorn Cliff, The Forest of Dean Quarries, Cleeve Hill - Castle Rock.
